Thermae and health

Health

The therapeutic properties of our thermal water have been acknowledged since pre-historic times. In that ancient era, we entrusted ourselves to the god Aponus’s mercy, revered at the spring, but nowadays we know very well about the anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidising properties of the thermal mud, which is only able to mature here thanks to the particular environmental conditions of this area.

Before you put yourselves into our therapists’ hands, our Health Director will check your general health and will recommend the best therapy for you, according to your requests and needs.

Thermae

We pay special attention to the recently renovated thermal area, where our staff is specialized in mud treatments, massages and inhalatory therapies. The hotel is monitored by the University of Padova under the O.T.P. program, which monitors the maturation process and quality controls the thermal mud.

Our thermal treatments with hyper-thermal bromidic iodic salt water are especially recommended for treating the following conditions: extra-articular rheumatism, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, the after-effects of bone fractures, bruises, sprains, physical rehabilitation, infections of the respiratory system (bronchitis, sinusitis, rhinosinusitis, rhino-pathologies, pharingo laryngitis).

Mud-balneotherapy

There are four stages in this effective, 100% natural treatment:

1. Mud therapy: lying on a bed, you’ll be covered in mud at a temperature between 40 and 45° C for about 15-20 minutes.

2. Balneotherapy: after a thermal water shower, you will bathe in a tub of thermal water at about 37° C with hydro-massage and ozone therapy for about 10 minutes.

3. The reaction: a period of relaxation, better if you lie down, covered with a blanket, to let the body react and release the previously accumulated heat

4. The massage: a short toning-up massage of your hot muscles to complete the treatment, which should have a special decontracting and stimulating effect.

Anti-inflammatory active ingredients in the euganean thermal mud baths

The European Patent No. 1571203 protects and guarantees the presence in thermal mud of numerous active ingredients, naturally produced during the ageing process when correctly regulated. Scientific research at the Pietro d’Abano Thermal Studies Center, owner of the patent, has allowed identifying them and shown the efficaciousness in treating chronic and degenerative inflammatory pathologies, in particular of osteoarticular origin.
